The very first part of footage that I shot for this film (besides the aborted interview with another friend) was for the introduction. I knew that a central theme would be New York City, so I decided to shoot a small collection of famous sites around New York.
For
this purpose, I sat and jotted down all the famous spots that I could
think of: the typical tourist traps. Then on one Saturday I decided
to go out and get as many shots I could of such iconic New York City
landmarks. I didn't get them all in, but I got more than a few.
I
knew that no matter who the interviewed person would be, I wanted to
keep the same introduction scene, sort of like the intro for a
television series. For that reason, I could edit together some scene
very early in the process.
