6a. Filming Gear p6 - Guitar Case and Batteries

I need something to lug all that stuff around, from location to location. I didn't realize, at first, how much stuff I would need in order to shoot a short documentary like this. Any backpack that I had would not be enough to carry all of this stuff.

It was clear to me that the biggest items I had were the tripods. They were the most difficult to carry. I had never realized this before, but they have special gig bags just for tripods! After looking at these online, I shuddered at buying yet another piece of gear. (In fact, even with my expensive guitars, I find it difficult to justify paying for a good case or gig bag).

Then it hit me! I bet all this stuff would fit nicely in the guitar gig bag that I've already got. So I tried that out, and indeed, it all fits nicely, and it's got nice straps and handles that allow me to wear it like a backpack if I want, or carry it by my side if that's better.

Another indispensable item that I must carry around with me are batteries. Because my light box is battery powered, and eats up energy, I carry around a lot of batteries. The other battery powered item I have is the audio recorder. These extra batteries saved me a few times.

All that said, lack of exchangeable batteries is a big limitation for me using iPhones. When I progress to the next step, I am sure that I will get a camera with exchangeable batteries, just in case one runs out.
