At
this early stage in learning to use the a6000, I already mentioned
that I didn't know anything about the camera settings, and just set
it to automatic. Another thing that I didn't know much about was the
file settings that might be best for me. Because I was shooting on
automatic settings, that meant that the shutter speed, and thus
motion blur of the footage was wonky. I would look at some footage
(from other shoots), and notice that it didn't look smooth, and was
thus unusable. Rather than tweak the shooting settings, I thought it
had to do with the file format that I was shooting with. After
checking across all of them, it seemed that AVCHD file setting
produced the most smooth footage.
(Although
I no longer use AVCHD, and I do alter my camera shooting to alleviate
this problem, I still don't know why AVCHD helped the automatic
footage shoot smoother.)
(I've
since learned to keep the shutter speed at 1/50, while shooting XAVC
at 24fps; and then moving the ISO or aperture in order to affect the
brightness of the shot. But this wasn't a lesson that I learned until
almost all the footage for this film was already captured.)
