This is the third episode of Listen
To The City Breathe. In this episode the Japanese dancer in New
York, Toshi Nakazawa (link) is the subject, and he tells his thoughts
and ideas about succeeding as a professional dancer, and being an
immigrant.
I hope that this series of reflections
on the making of this short documentary is interesting. Actually, one
reason that I do it is so that I can reflect and articulate what I've
learned in this process. This being the third episode, I have learned
a lot since making the first episode about the Chilean Conductor
Ramon Catalan, which you can view HERE.
However, some of the patterns that I
developed in that first episode continued into this episode. For one
thing, I decided to keep the introduction, and the ending the same,
along with a few of the transition pieces. I also bought new gear to
film the episode. I will try to remember all the different steps that
I took in making this film, and share them here.
